Chevy Equinox

FAQ:

1. I've heard a lot about the Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell. Is it available for purchase?
Not currently, although consumers can visit Chevy's Equinox Website to apply to lease it and provide feedback to the company..
2. Does the FC Equinox handle like a regular car?
There are some differences, but for the most part that is correct, the Fuel Cell Model of the Equinox will handle exactly like the regular gas-powered model. Some differences that take getting use to are the lack of engine (the electric motor runs much quieter) and the regenerative breaking system.
How quickly can both models accelerate?
The V6 engine, according to Chevy, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.5 seconds. The Equinox FC goes from 0-60 mph in 12 seconds.
How does the FC refuel?
The Fuel Cell model has to refuel at select fueling stations, one of the biggest obstacles to widespread release of fuel cell cars. There are currently about 24 hydrogen stations in California, and 4 in the New York City area. The estimated cost of building up a hydrogen station infrastructure is around $10-$15 billion per 12,000 stations.
How much can the Equinox Pull?
Both the traditional gas engine and FC models are rated to pull a 3500-pound trailer.
