What the GM MyLink System Brings to the Chevy Equinox
02/26/2011
In light of the popularity of Ford's Sync system, it appears that Chevy is racing to expand the presence of technology and connectivity in their cars. The latest innovation in that light, dubbed MyLink, will allow remote smartphone controls to popular models. These will include the Chevy Volt and the 2012 Chevy Equinox.
Both cars already have a center dashboard screen that's about seven inches wide and allow for radio and navigation functions. The 2012 will also allow touch screens that can interface with a driver's existing cell phone.
MyLink will also allow Chevy drivers to send and receive calls via voice command or if they prefer, through the touch screen. Phones can also be used as portable media players that connect through Bluetooth. Used in this way, the phones will also be accessed through voice command or the touch screen, depending on the user's preference. GM also plans to introduce a Powermat to their cars, which will be able to recharge Phones or other devices without the hassle of a cord.
